《A night at the opera》是我听到Queen的第一张专辑，每当提起它的时候，我的语气就总是情不自禁地温柔下来，温柔的仿佛是在讲述自己的初恋。初听《A night at the opera》时，是我迄今生命中最黯然的时光，是Queen激情，华丽，忧伤的声音，照亮了我14岁那年整个漫长，孤寂的夏天。
我从小就是一个固执的孩子，即使是咖啡，巧克力，也一直选择纯的。至于听音乐，我喜欢古典，也喜欢现代，但是在听到《A night at the opera》之前，从来不喜欢古典现代相结合的音乐，先前听到的总显得有些突兀和做作，毕竟古典现代之间有着十分明显的界线，把古典现代融合得完美也实在是件困难的事情。知道《A night at the opera》改变了我的这一观念，Queen使得古典音乐和现代音乐互补，整张专辑既有古典的恢弘典雅，又有现代摇滚的活力热情。到现在，我仍然认为，Queen是将古典和现代融合的最好的乐队，完全突破了这个明显界限，在音乐的演绎上游刃有余。
Queen的这张《A night at the opera》，绝对算得上博大精深，可他们仍保留着LED ZEPPELIN时期硬摇滚乐队的特点，绝对不使用电子合成器，呈现给我们的，是最纯粹艺术。听这张专辑，我惊异于Queen的想象力，相比他们，我们自己的一些摇滚乐，就象是戴着脚镣跳舞。艺术真的是害怕比较。
因为这张专辑，我开始疯狂的热爱Brain May的吉他solo。他的吉他弹奏技艺比不上Steve vai或者Slash，他的吉他solo也绝对算不上经典，却是我最喜欢的。他绚丽的弹奏绝对多了许多深沉的东西，并且符合Queen华丽的乐风，已经成为了Queen的一个明显标志。我很喜欢那首前卫摇滚曲风的《39》，它是Brain May的吉他技艺的全面展示。
说到《A night at the opera》，就绝对不能忽略那首《Bohemian Rhapsody》。它在Freddie Mercury大段歌剧般优美的唱段中加入了重金属吉他riff和solo，如歌剧般华美，史诗般恢弘。显然，这是一首颇费心血的歌曲。但他们的努力并没有白费，这首歌帮助皇后奠定了世界巨星的地位，它的流行度也大大超过了专辑本身。其实在听这首歌时，最让我着迷的却是《Bohemian Rhapsody》暧昧的歌词：

后来才得知，乐队主唱Freddie Mercury是一个的同性恋者，而这首歌却是隐着写同性恋的。
大约知道了这些情况后，我开始又试着听这首歌曲，听到“ I’m just a poor boy and nobody loves me／he’s just a poor boy from a poor family／Spare him his life from this monstrosity／Easy come easy go”时，忍不住潸然泪下。世界上令人无奈的事情已经很多了，我们又何苦自寻烦恼呢？我无意于对他的这种生活方式做出任何评论，只是为因为这种生活方式而产生的艺术赞叹。
不知不觉很多年过去了，曾经让我几乎可以说魂牵梦绕的《A night at the opera》也蒙上了一层灰尘。Queen的一些讨好的，重复的专辑让我对他们不象14岁那年一样崇敬，后来也开始听一些流行摇滚诸如林肯公园，《A night at the opera》好久没有听了，原本熟悉的旋律也有些模糊了。可无论如何，它仍然是我心中的经典。轻轻试去封面的灰尘，重温这张《A night at the opera》， I’m just a poor boy and nobody loves me／he’s just a poor boy from a poor family／Spare him his life from this monstrosity／Easy come easy go……当这段旋律又重新响起，我仿佛又回到了14岁的那个夏天。
